چکیده

According to the recommendation of The International Thymic Malignancy Interest Group (ITMIG), surgical resection of anything less than a complete thymectomy is considered inappropriate at this time except in the context of a clinical trial. Therefore, limited thymectomy may be not appropriate for thymoma resection. However, there is little evidence that mandates surgeons perform complete thymectomy for patients without myasthenia gravis. Leaving aside propriety of our policy for thymoma resection, we think that this study might have significance in that there have been few studies comparing outcomes according to the extent of thymus resection.

With a mediastinotomy incision, biopsy of the tumor was obtained. The report of the pathologist was t...

Recurrence after thymoma resection according to the extent of the resection

BACKGROUND Complete resection of the thymus is considered appropriate for a thymoma resection because any remaining thymic tissue can lead to local recurrence. However, there are few studies concerning the extent of thymus resection. Therefore, we conducted a retrospective study to investigate whether recurrence following thymoma resection correlated to the extent of resection. METHODS Betwee...

Thus, radical resection of insular gliomas can be even more difficult. Brain mapping techniques can be used to maximize the extent of...

Management of Pituitary Adenomas: Mononostril Endoscopic Transsphenoidal Surgery

Introduction: The endoscopic transsphenoidal approach for pituitary adenomas and other sellar lesions is quickly becoming the procedure of choice in their surgical management. The most common approach is binostril three-hand technique which requires a large exposure and subjects both nasal cavities to potential trauma. To reduce nasal morbidity, we employ a mononostril two-hand technique with t...
